Petit Verdot is a native Bordeaux variety which has found the perfect home in Abadia Retuerta’s low yielding vineyards in Sardon de Duero. This sublime expression of the variety has an intense dark cherry hue and a rich, sweet nose of blueberry, liquorice, toffee and dark chocolate. The full bodied palate has concentrated flavours of blackcurrant, mocha and smooth tobacco, while the sleek,undefinedAbadia Retuerta is a small, very premium and artisanal winery comprised of individual vineyards in the historic area of Sardon de Duero in Ribera del Duero. 54 plots have been identified, each with very different characteristics and planted with a single variety. One of the specialities of the estate is their use of international grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petit Verdot and Sauvignon Blanc; this approach sets the wines apart from the requirements of DO Ribera del Duero.
