Aalto Ribera Del Duero Spain 2015
Type | Red |
Grapes | Tempranillo |
Country/Region | Spain, Ribera Del Duero |
Alcohol | 14.5% |
Aalto 2015 is made by one of the best winemakers in the world, Mariana Garcia, winemaker of the iconic Vega Sicilia for 30 years. Aromas of dark cherry, cassis and vanilla are followed by the candied orange peel. On the palate lots of intense sweet black fruits, pencil lead, cloves, nutmeg and touch of mint. Very intense and a slightly warm palate but also there is a crisp theme of acidity to keep everything balanced with lots of ripe but silky tannins.

The 2015 Aalto has contained ripeness for the warm and dry conditions of the year, and I find it surprisingly fresh and balanced. It's still a concentrated wine that is generously oaked, round, lush and with a great combination of power and elegance. Different plots are fermented and aged separately, some in new barrels and others in used ones. It's very approachable and ready. Really impressive in its style. One of the finest vintages of Aalto in recent times. by Luis Gutiérrez

This bold red is rich and mouth-filling, with ripe plum and currant fruit mingling with cocoa, espresso and mineral notes. The big tannins are well-integrated, and the balsamic acidity keeps this focused. Generous but remains balanced. Drink now through 2027.
