Type | Red |
Grapes | Syrah / Shiraz |
Country/Region | Australia, Coonawarra |
Alcohol | 14.5% |
Bin 128 Coonawarra has less obvious French oak than in other cuvées of Penfolds. It is more like an elegant Syrah of Northern Rhone – dark, intense fruit is accompanied by spices and chocolate. Drinking already well now and will age beautifully.

Very deep crimson. Very ripe, leathery, round and super-polished. And then it's all tightly drawn like a drawstring purse on the end. Doesn't quite follow right through on the palate to the end. The dry tannins make their presence felt on the very very end. Tarry but not heavy. Pretty clever. So much more generous than the average Coonawarra Shiraz.

A very handy follow-up to the 2014, this has impressive depth and alluring baking spices laced into perfumed fruits that smell of blackberry, raspberry, plum and chocolate. The palate has a very alluring texture, silky, light and almost creamy. Drink now to 2025+

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Shiraz Bin 128 has a gregarious nose of cherry cordial, baked blackberries and spice cake with hints of chocolate box and dusty earth. Medium to full-bodied, rich, velvety and open for biz, it has a lovely spicy core and great length.
