Classified as a Cru Bourgeois. Chateau Potensac takes his name from his location on top of the Potensac plateau. Own by the Delon Family also owner of Leoville Las cases and Chateau Nenin. Chateau Potensac is rather unusual as it is planted with 46% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon 16% Cabernet Franc, Carmenere and Petit Verdot. This was not always the case as previously this was planted with 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, the aim is to have a softer more approachable wine. The wine is made by the same team as Leoville Las Cases. The wine is aged in French oak Barrel pass down from Clos du Marquis for 14 to 16 months.
The wines are deep, round, rich, ripe. In the left bank 2009 were stunning. Plenty of sublime wines were produced in the Medoc. Many wines from Pauillac to St Estephe are so good they are close to off the charts.
