Chateau La Gaffeliere has the unique distinction of being one of the oldest family owned vineyards in the Saint-Emilion appellation of Bordeaux, the Malet-Roquefort family can trace their roots in the Right Bank all the way back to the 1400s. 18 hectares of vineyard, divided into three plots, adjacent to some of the finest estates in the region, the chateau is well-deserving of its 1er Grand Cru Classe (B) status.
Limestone, smoke, spice and dark berries. Silky texture, with liquorice and cooked plum on the finish.
Barbecued lamb and beef, with roast veg.
An interesting alternative to some of the biggest names, without the increasingly hefty price-tag.
