Born in 1953, Carlos Moro was raised on family's vineyards in Ribera del Duero. He embarked upon a career in the Spanish wine industry, before founding his own company in 1988. Today he produces wines from several estates and single-vineyard sites dotted throughout Castilla y Leon. RENTO is sourched from the 2.2 hectare Hito Corto vineyard on the southern bank of the Duero River. The vineyard is farmed without chemical products and harvesting is performed by hand.
Intense ruby in colour, with hints of purple. Powerful aroma, with ripe black fruit, excellent structure and impressive complexity from 18 months in French oak-cedar, liquorice and cloves. Stylish and silky for such a powerful wine; this is already supremely enjoyable yet displays impressive capacity for ageing.
Smokey, spiced meat dishes will pair well; an ideal wine for autumn barbeque.
The Hito Corto estate used to be a Jesuit Monastery, with a very long history of vine-cultivation.
