Born in 1953, Carlos Moro was raised on his family's vineyards in Ribera del Duero. He embarked upon a career in the Spanish wine industry, before founding his own company in 1988. Today he produces wines from several estates and single-vineyard sites dotted throughout Castilla y Leon. Based in the picturesque town of San Vicente de la Sonsierra, the Rioja wines of Carlos Moro are sourced from 20-hectares owned and 40-hectares managed vineyards spread out across the northern bank of the Ebro River, including some vines over 80 years old.
A very pretty wine, with beautiful intensity and rich colour. Bright cherry fruit, and a long finish. Oak influence from 12 months in barrel adds balance and complexity.
A good companion for lamb, in gently-spiced dishes.
Grapes are sourced from the highest vineyards in the area; hand-harvesting and low yields ensure that only top-quality fruit arrives in the winery for vinification.
