The Portuguese DOC of Dao is one of the oldest demarcated wine-regions in the world. Located inland in the northern part of the country, 120km southeast of Porto, the area has an ancient tradition of wine production, with warm dry summers and abundant winter rainfall. With 6 hectares of vines, planted in 2000 with traditional grape varieties in the heart of the Dao region, the Kelman family seeks to build their own legacy in this beautiful region.
6 months in third-fill French oak. Taught minerality balances a delightful weight of incredibly complex fruit. Minimal intervention winemaking and the age of the vines adds impeccable subtlety and floral delicacy to the wine. Elegant and refined; a magnificent, highly individual wine.
A surprisingly flexible wine for pairing, as impressive with feathered game or goose as with beef.
2620 bottles produced; vegan friendly. A field-blend of 10 different traditional Dão grape varieties (castas) from a parcel of 50-year old vines.
