One of the best representatives of the Spanish sparkling wine is the Gramona Celler Batlle Gran Reserva Brut. Made in Sant Sadurní by an authentic family winery with only a focus on quality. This is a sparkling Cava top that leaves many significantly more expensive Champagnes behind in terms of quality and price. Absolute top quality as you would expect from the house Gramona. Celler Batlle is pronounced as: Ceh-jer Bai-je. The cuvée is named after the old cellar in Sant Sadurni d'Anoia, which in itself takes its name from the Batlle family, who founded Gramona. Celler Batlle can compete with a large year of Champagnes.
The Gramona Celler Batlle Gran Reserva Brut is a blend of macabeo 25% and xarel.lo 75%. It is a very refined, mildly dry wine with a fine, dosed mousse. Pleasantly developed in taste due to the long bearing 'sur latte'. Show candied fruit, blossom, chamomile, butter and soft bread and toast. Complex set of scents and flavors.
During the 2nd fermentation in the bottle one uses corks for the Celler Battle instead of crown corks. The disgorgement of the bottles must therefore be done by hand, which is a highly qualified job. Celler Batlle is a Vintage Cava and, for the development of a very fine mousse, is marketed 'sur lattes' on average after about 8-10 (!!) years of ripening. It concerns a selection of the III Lustros Cuvée from the La Plana vineyard, a 4 ha plot with a sand / clay soil on limestone. The xarel.lo grape makes it possible for this Cava to grow old. The residual sugar content is approximately 8 grams / liter.
