The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Volcanic Hill comes from 8 hectares of vineyard facing south planted on a volcanic soil that contrasts sharply with the red, iron-rich soil of Red Rock Terrace and the gravel soil of Gravelly Meadow. The Volcanic Hill vineyard is the hottest vineyard of Diamond creek. The volcanic soil is the result of an eruption of 8 million years ago, leaving a thick layer of lava / volcano ash here. The Volcanich hill is mainly Cabernet Sauvignon with a very small part of Petit Verdot. The wine ages at least 22 months in oak barrels and then stays in the bottle for 2 years before it comes to the market
The Volcanic Hill is the most explosive and more concentrated in taste within the Diamond Creek series. The deep ruby / purple-tinted 2010 Volcanic Hill is somewhat subdued and reserved in the nose, but this restraint is unleashed in the mouth. Full of blackberries, cherry, leather with a hint of mint. The aftertaste does not seem to stop but put this bottle away (if that succeeds) until 2018/2019 and then drink it during the next 30+ years.
