The Imperial Gran Reserva is made from 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano, and 5% Mazuelo and raised in new French and American oak barrels for 24 months. With its intense deep red color, it gives aromas of toast, spices, espresso, blackberries and plums in the nose. Medium to full-bodied in the mouth with an attractive texture and ripe flavors. an absolute Top Rioja of which only 22,000 bottles are made.
The vineyards are in the rioja alta. The climate here is still influenced by the Atlantic Ocean. The terroir consists mainly of iron, lime and clay. This wine is made from the best selection of grapes, which are harvested by hand from the vineyards in the Rioja Alavesa. The first part of the fermentation takes about 7 days at a temperature that is lower than 33 ° C. Thereafter, a prolonged fermentation takes place on oak cuves in order to give the structure of the wine a good harmony. After fermentation, the wine is transferred to American and French oak barrels, on which the wine matures for 24 years. After barrel maturation, a thorough 36-month bottle maturation takes place in the ancient storage cellars of Bodegas. The wine was then released. CVNE Imperial first appeared in the 1920s.
The Color is sparkling ruby red, with strawberry red sparkle. In the nose spices where oak and vanilla are mixed with the scents of flowers and red fruit. In the mouth the wine is warm, with a long well-balanced acidity and noble tannins. Ripe red fruit, black currants and a nice rounding of the taste with a touch of vanilla. Long complete aftertaste.
