The 2011 Altos de Lanzaga is one of the best years of Lanzaga. The taste is beautiful with a lot of weight and intensity without compromising its elegance and balance. It is known that 2010 was a great year, but that this wine is very special is also evident from the 94+ points that Parker gives and 96 points that Penin gives to this wine. With all due respect because this is still an expensive wine but a wine of this quality and for this price you will not easily find.
The Rioja wine region is influenced by both the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Telmo recently had a completely new basement built in the elevated village of Lanciego. Telmo only works with old vineyards (often planted in terrace construction) that are planted with so-called bush wines. The vineyards that supply the grapes for the Lanzaga are being biodynamically processed and the wine will also be certified in the near future. In Altos de Lanzaga, the classic Rioja wine reinterprets: it is a serious, elegant and complex wine, very typical of the region, but also bright contemporary red.
