The term Conteisa is the local word for dispute or dispute. This name refers to the dispute in the 13th century between the municipalities of La Morra and Barolo about the Cerequio lands that separate these towns. Cerequio is one of the most famous Cru's from Barolo and synonymous with wines of the highest level. The 2013 Barolo Conteisa is now officially a DOCG wine after years as a Langhe Nebbiolo or IGT wine as is the case for the famous Sperrs. In general, the 2013 vintage is characterized by a slow ripening and a long growing season (in contrast to 2012 that saw more concentrated heat). The fermented during 21 days through temperature controlled soaking on stainless steel. This is followed by maturing for 30 months in oak wooden barrels. And this is how this full, concentrated wine comes into existence, including black fruit, tar, licorice and even a hint of watermelon pulp. It is powerful with great development potential, but already accessible at a younger age - due to its pleasant tannin structure. This is a balanced and homogeneous wine with a soft caressing nature and is a perfect wine with large game, red meat, preparations with mushrooms or truffles, and hard cheeses.
