This vineyard of the Eguren family is located in La Veguilla and covers 16.5 hectares. The Amancio is a cuvée of four best plots in San Vicente de la Sonsierra. The soil consists of calcareous clay soil with small round limestone on the surface. The vineyard has an exceptionally low production, but the grapes are of excellent quality. The vineyards are organically fertilized and wines are produced organically. The grapes are carefully stalked by hand and undergo a very strict selection process. Pre-fermentation by cold soaking of 6 days. The fermentation takes place in 5 hectoliters of oak barrels. The grapes are pressed twice a day during the pre-fermentation. Malolactic fermentation takes place in new French oak barrels (type Bordelaise).

The Amancio of Sierra Cantabria has an intense cherry color in the glass. In the nose the Amancio has beautiful notes of ripe fruit, blackberry, black cherry, black currant and fig, with mineral and licorice undertones and a dark roasted aroma. In the mouth this powerful red wine is very intense, expressive, soft and smooth in texture and concentrated. The wine has beautiful smoky tones because of the new French oak and because only the best fruit is allowed in this top wine due to the very low yield. The mouth is filled with the taste of fruit and a fine wood structure, well integrated and in perfect balance. Velvety soft on the palate. Excellent blans between the acids and the ripe tannin with a very long finish. The wine has received a great review from Tanzer, Penin and Parker.

Guia Penin 2018: 95 points . Color: very deep cherry. Aroma: ripe fruit, toasty, new oak, aromatic coffee. Boca: flavourful, powerful, ripe fruit, fine bitter notes.

Fact: Hermanos Euguren has been named the best winemaker of the year 2012 by the American wine magazine Wine Enthusiast.
