2014 Abadia Retuerta Seleccion Especial Magnum
The Abadia Retuerta Especial is the best known version of Abadia Retuerta. The wine is dark red (opaque) in the glass. In the nose we smell notes of ripe black and red fruits in combination with balsamic vinegar, spicy bouquet (licorice) laurel, havana tobacco, cedar wood, dates with nicely dosed vanilla and oak in the nose. Large, fruity, creamy and lasting in the mouth. Mouth-filling, well-structured material with sufficient freshness and fine, talking tannins. The wine is a great personality. medium to full bodied and very refined and complex. The final blend of the Abadia differs (a little) each year and the 2014 is a blend of 70% Tempranillo, 17% Syrah and 13% Cabernet Sauvignon and this time no Merlot. The wine has had oak education after 11 months (French new). The 2014 was again a great year which was rewarded with no less than 92+ Parker points!
