Beautiful Chenin Blanc by winemakers Jacky & Jean-Philippe Blot from Domaine de la Taille aux Loups, one of the best wine domains of Montlouis and Vouvray. The small wine region of Montlouis-sur-Loire forms the basis of this delicious, intense wine. The area covers an area of only 3.5 hectares and is located between the Loire and Cher rivers. The influence of the ocean is essential for making the wines in the Loire. Only in the valley of the rivers does the soft ocean air flow in properly, which ensures that the grapes can mature nicely. Due to its location on a low plateau between the Loire and the Cher, the position of Montlouis is ideal in that respect. These good conditions naturally ensure great wines, such as this Remus. The vines are between 70 and 80 years old and are rooted in a limestone, clay and pebble soil on limestone substrate. The grapes are naturally harvested manually and then pressed lightly pneumatically. The wine is then fermented in barriques for at least 6 months. No yeasts are added, and no chaptalization takes place.
The Remus Chenin Blanc is pale straw yellow in color with a light golden wing. On the nose intense, rich chenin blanc aromas (including white fruit), some oak. The taste is also very rich with a slight bitterness in the aftertaste, beautiful acids, minerals, influence of excellent quality wood and energetic in the aftertaste. Round, complex and well-balanced. The wine can already be drunk well, but storing it for a few years will certainly benefit the taste of this wine.
This wine is certified organic.
