In 1584, Pierre Gosset, alderman of Aÿ and winegrower, mainly produced red, silent wines with the harvest from his own vineyards. This makes Gosset the oldest winery in Champagne. However, in the 18th century, the production of still wines made in and around Aÿ changed to bubbles. Malolactic fermentation is carefully avoided in order to preserve the malic acid, which provides the natural fruity aromas. ("échelle des crus").

The grapes for this Champagne mainly come from the following municipalities / Cru's: Aÿ, Bouzy, Ambonnay, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Villers-Marmery ..... Gosset only uses the best Cru's from the Marne district with an average 95% rating on the official quality scale. The dosage for the Grande Reserve Brut is 8 grams per liter. Malolactic fermentation is intentionally avoided to preserve all the primary fruit in the wine as much as possible. The wine is stored in the cellars for a minimum of 3 years, before dégorgement takes place.

The Grande Reserve is a blend 43% Chardonnay, 42% Pinot Noir and 15% Pinot Meunier. The Grande Réserve Brut is the signature of Champagne Gosset. It is the true expression of what Gosset must radiate, according to Jean Pierre Mareigner, the cellar master. The nose smells dominating of fruit combined with refreshing tones. The attack is creamy and soft. The Chardonnay provides the fruitiness, while the Pinot Noir in turn is responsible for the structure of the wine. In short; subtle and a classic character!

Nice with
Very pleasant aperitif, but also a good companion of tapas, dishes with poultry, crustaceans and shellfish, Comté or Parmesan.
