This delicious Quinta do Noval Tawny Port is made from grape varieties such as touriga nacional, touriga francesca and tinta barroca. The port has a waning red color due to the 3-year maturation in chestnut barrels and is therefore also called tawny. Dried plums, raisins and ripened fruit are the scent nuances, with a pleasant woody tone. The taste is persistent but soft and has a spicy hint in the aftertaste.

Port is a special wine in all respects. The method of preparation is absolutely unique. The fermentation of the grapes only lasts until there is sufficient unfermented sugar for the taste. Wine alcohol is then added up to a level of around 20 degrees. The fermentation stops abruptly, the young port wine is born. It is just like port wine with port wine; there are simple basic wines and there are "Grands Crus". The Quinta do Noval port house is such a Grand Cru on the Douro and Pinhão rivers where the soil consists of slate and granite.
