The topper among the Gran Cuvée's is this GOLD variant. Produced by the Italian quality winery Velenosi from the Marche . Wijnhuis Velenosi was founded in 1984 by 2 entrepreneurs Angela and Ercole Velenosi. Despite the relatively short period of time that they have been active in viticulture, their boundless passion for the profession has made them learn quickly. They are full of pride, and rightly so, at their state-of-the-art wine company in the province of Marken (Marche) near Ascoli Piceno. The beautiful wines come from around 100 hectares that the domain is large.

All aspects of this sparkling wine can be called very beautiful. To start with, the beautiful, clear antique gold color with very lively reflections and fine perlage, elegant and very persistent. And then the elegant and fleshy bouquet with nicely complex aromas of candied citrus, passion fruit, raspberry and berry, and hints of dried lavender, nuts, biscuit and crusty bread, vanilla, chestnut honey and a hint of balsamic vinegar. And finally the taste! The wine gives a feeling of volume in the mouth. The bubbles are silky and of excellent quality. Balanced with an intense, fresh and fruity body, the wine evolves in intensity and lasts a long time. The aftertaste is very long, with fruit and biscuit tones.

The Gran Cuvée Gold is made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes from Velenosi's own vineyards that lie in the municipality of Ascoli Piceno at about 200 meters above sea level. The wine is made according to the Champenoise method so as they do with good champagnes and cavas. The soil type has a medium texture there and tends to be sandy. The grapes for this wine were picked by hand in the early morning of August 10, 2005, and then processed immediately. After staling and careful pressing, the grapes were fermented for 10 days in steel vessels at controlled temperature. The Gran Cuvée Gold remained bottled 'sur lie' for 10 years. During this long period, the expert oenologist Dr. Cesare Ferrari tasted the wine regularly to follow its evolution. In 2015, the bottles were taken from the controlled temperature and humidity rooms for the issue, and every year a handful of bottles are released. By the way, at Velenosi, patience and care are of such paramount importance. These 2 factors are perhaps the most emotional factors in the winemaker's experience and guarantee an excellent and unique personality of a dry wine.

This wine is delicious as an aperitif. Also tastes great with pasta or rice dishes with fish and with appetizers with fish.
