Straw yellow colour with brilliant green nuances. Intensive and persistent floral aromas combined with notes of peaches, lemon and exotic fruits. Great complexity on the palate, with citrus freshness and a prickly acidity, medium bodied and well balanced. A notable and long-lasting finish with a slightly salty note.BEN grows in our Maremma property called Mongibello delle Mandorlaie between Scansano and Magliano, only 11 km away from the sea at an altitude of 250m. The soil is mostly sand with granit stones and clay underneath.Soft pressing after a few hours of maceration in the pneumatic press. Cold fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by 4 month in stainless. No malolactic fermentation. Bottled in February 2018.Nittardi is a boutique winery situated in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, with vineyards in Chianti Classico and Maremma, in southern Tuscany. The property dates back to the 16th century, when it belonged to the Renaissance artist Michelangelo Buonarroti, it was taken over in 1981 by Frankfurt publisher and art gallerist Peter Femfert and his wife, who have restored Nittardi step by step. The vineyards were replanted and in 1992 the ancient vat room was replaced by a modern cellar. In addition, another splendid property was purchased in the Maremma, close to the coast in southern Tuscany in 1999. Since then, 20 hectares there have been planted with local an international grape varieties. This is where Ad Astra and Nectar Dei, the Super Tuscans of Nittardi and BEN, a pure Vermentino, are produced. Since 2013, Léon, Peter and Stefanias son, oversees Nittardis winemaking.

Not a year goes by in which the wines of Nittardi do not win an important award or rating, including Tre Bicchieri from Gambero Rosso, 5* from Decanter and 90+ points from Wien Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Wine Advocate and James Suckling.
