Seyit Karagözoglu founded Paşaeli in 2000, aiming to revive and celebrate the forgotten native grapes of Turkey. This pale salmon-pink wine is 100% Çalkarası from a single vineyard planted at 850 metres in Çal, the highest altitude of any wine in our entire imported portfolio! Çalkarası, which translates as the black grape of Çal, is traditionally used to make lightly coloured, fresh rosé wines but can also be used to make the traditional Turkish spirit raki. This is truly delicious, exactly what we look for in a rosé: pale pink, refreshing, dry, well balanced with good acidity and a long finish.
"Pretty Provençal pink. Really good intensity and length - so much so that you could drink this with or without food." - 16.5 points - Julia Harding MW for jancisrobinson.com
