High in mountainous Alto Adige, the Abbazia di Novacella monastery has been making wine since the 1100s, and is one of the finest wineries of northern Italy. Their Lagrein is a hugely attractive example of this local grape variety, with medium,-weight supple, juicy, bramble fruits, black chocolate, ripe broad-grained tannins and pepper.
