This Tokaji Dry Szamorodni is an intriguing and exciting wine, made in a style that was once in favour throughout the region, however now on the brink of dying out.
Once opened the aromas are reminiscent of a fino or barbadillo Sherry, as the oxidative nutty flavours are a delightful accent to a rich honey note. The botrytised berries offer richness, a touch of dried apricot and a light muscat florality. One wouldn't place this as a 2003 vintage as the wine is still bursting with freshness and showing plenty of ageing capability.
A great pairing would be with Spanish garlic prawns, cured mangalitza ham or tomato insalata.

Recipe Ideas
Chicken Paprikash, called Paprikás Csirke in Hungarian, is a popular weekend staple and a classic of the Hungarian culinary arts. As suggested by its name, smoky and aromatic paprika is at the heart of the dish, which combines simple ingredients into comfort food paradise.
