Just two barrels of Pierre Bourée's Côte de Nuits Villages Blanc were made in 2016, a vintage where yields were significantly reduced, from fruit picked in the Fixin commune, which covers both village and premier cru vineyards.
The 2016 white Burgundy vintage was very much a winemaker's vintage, choose carefully and you will be well rewarded by charming, textured, balanced Chardonnays, such as this exceptional gem at a relatively modest price.
As estate tradition dictates, fermentation occurs in foudres, prior to a year's aging in French barrique, during which the barrels are rolled to stir up the lees to add further complexity. The cuvée is then bottled without filtration to retain wonderfully pure expression of the Burgundy classic.
