For over 200 years, Dow has been associated with producing fine Port from the upper Douro. Unlike most other Port houses, Dow's story starts with a Portuguese man coming to the British Isles (the reverse story of most). Bruno da Silva started shipping wines from his home to country to Britain and thus the story starts. Today Dow is noted for producing very fine but well priced Port.
The backbone of Dow's Vintage Ports is drawn from the company's finest vineyards - the Quinta do Bomfim and Senhora da Riberia each property contributing to the wine's unique character and class. Aged in wood for approximately 2 years and bottled unfiltered, Dow's Vintage Ports are considered to be amongst the finest Vintage Ports produced. 1977 Was a classic vintage declared by most houses, these wines have proven to stand the test of time.
