Dark colour, amber. Spicy nose, ethyl acetate, liquorice, bourbon vanilla. The mouth is marked by rancios, with a volatile structure, lacking direction, but in a style which is actually quite pure. Concealed power and softness on the palate, where the Grande Champagne markers are distinctive. A traditional and appealing cognac.
Vinification
This Vintage cognac has a different story to the previous Grande Champagne 1970. It comes from a family joint-possession which was highly advertised in the region. This unique cask, which was aged at the O.R.E.C.O, entered our cellars over 10 years ago, at the time the succession was pronounced. Famous for the affection he had towards his cognacs, the owner took great care of his barrels and of his cellars. We make sure we take as much care in the ageing of his cognac, which was placed in very old barrels and very gently reduced, just once, many years ago. It has aged these last years in our cellar near the Charente river in SaintesAbout The Producer
La Gabare is one of the last independent cognac houses. It was founded in 1992 by Jean Grosperrin, a cognac broker and merchant, who was able to capitalise on the close relationships he has with his clients, resulting in them allowing him to buy precious private stocks. Today, the family-owned company remains dedicated to the selection, ageing and sale of rare, old cognacs under the brand names Cognac de Collection Jean Grosperrin and Cognac Le Roch. All of their products are verified and certified by the French National Scientific Research Institute guaranteeing their impeccable provenance and quality.
