Souzao Tinta Cao 2018 <Br> Hedges Family Estate
Type | Red |
Country/Region | United States, Washington State |
Food pairing | Beef |
Alcohol | 14.5% |
This excellent USA Washington State wine comprises grapes from the prestigious Red Mountain AVA terroir. Wines from this region have their own distinct character and the use of neutral aged barrels by winemaker Sarah allows the fruit to express itself beautifully. Collectivino is the first to import this wonderful wine to the UK. Christophe Hedges calls this wine of grapes indigenous to Portugal "a taste of things to come", as the estate experiments with different varietals better suited to the warming climate.
Tasting Notes
An explosion of mixed berries with quite a bit of raspberry and blackberry is followed up by savory herbs, spice, vanilla and a touch of earth and turmeric. This is a racy wine with a lot of pleasant up-front acid, a chewy mid-palate and a long impactful finish.
Food pairing
This gorgeous gem is remarkably versatile for food pairing. It'll work particularly well with barbecued meats and burgers, grilled vegetables, and sauce-rich beef, lamb, pork, duck, and eggplant or lentil dishes.
