Rubesco Riserva Vigna Monticchio is an elegant and complex Torgiano Rosso Riserva DOCG wine. The nose is reminiscent of blackberry and morello cherry with delicate hints of violet, slight menthol notes and a spicy finish. The taste is soft, velvety, fruity and slightly balsamic, with a long and persistent finish. This Lungarotti wine is made from Sangiovese di Monticchio grapes grown using the double spurred cordon method and harvested in October. Once in the cellar, they ferment in steel with maceration on the skins for about twenty days, then naturalise for a year in barriques and finally age for several years in the bottle. Among its many qualities, Lungarotti's Rubesco Riserva Vigna Monticchio wine has an excellent ageing potential, averaging 30-35 years. This label of fine Umbrian red wine goes very well with refined international dishes such as roast ox with wasabi, Peking duck, guinea fowl alla ghiotta, pepper fillet with Japanese mustard, pigeon with black truffle and mature cheeses. Lungarotti Rubesco Riserva Vigna Monticchio wine is considered one of the best Italian red wines and a full expression of its terroir.
