Château L'hospitalet Grand Vin Blanc , Gérard Bertrand 2019
Country/Region | United Kingdom |
Vintage | 2019 |
Château lHospitalet stands just a hundred metres from the Mediterranean Sea, which it overlooks. Enjoying a semi-arid Mediterranean climate with a mild winter, the vineyard enjoys exceptional climatic conditions. The grapes are picked by hand, and when they reach the winery the juice undergoes fermentation in barrel (with temperature control to preserve the freshness and integrity of the aromas). Maturation takes place in barrels for 7 to 8 months through to the spring equinox. After a light fining operation the wine is bottled.
This wine has subtle yet rich aromas of citrus fruit, white fleshed fruits (pear and quince), scents of garrigue and anise, and notes of roasted hazelnuts. The palate shows great finesse and a beautiful minerality, iodized notes with touches of white pepper and flint. A lot of freshness on the finish with notes of acacia honey. Truly a wine to savour! Very limited stock.
