Dom Pérignon is one of Champagnes most famous and celebrated brands today. It was one of the very first prestige cuvees of Champagne, introduced in the 1930s. Dom Pérignon is based on a core of five grand cru villages of pinot noir and four of chardonnay, in which the company is privileged to have access to huge resources. Dom Pérignon was the Benedictine cellarmaster at the Abbey of Hautvillers in the late 17th century, dubbed the father of Champagne. The wine one could say is certainly the daddy of prestige champagne cuvees. The DP style is composed of a tension between the chardonnay and pinot noir, floral aromas, a creamy mid-palate, and finesse throughout.
