The Haut-Medoc appellation is located in the north of Bordeaux. It is encompassed by the lower two-thirds of the Medoc peninsula. Chateau Camensac is located in the commune of Saint-Laurent-Medoc, on the border of the Saint-Julien appellation. The 65 hectares of vineyard are situated on the commune's finest gravelly rise. The origins of the chateau date back to the 18th century. The high quality of its wines ensured it reached the Fifth Growth rank in the 1855 Classification. Today, the Forner family tries to maintain this quality with the assistance of Michel Rolland.
Deep and intense dark colour. Aromas of vanilla intermixed with black currant and liquorice. Medium-bodied wine with moderately high tannin, excellent depth, purity, and overall harmony, it is certainly capable of considerable longevity.
It works perfectly with beef stews and cold cuts like bresaola.
A wine that is drinking fantastically right now.
