2009 75Cl Chateau Lagrange (Saint Julien)

Classified as a 3eme cru classe, historically Chateau Lagrange was a massive 250 hectares property, but over the years a good part of it has been sold to Ducru Beaucaillou and Chateau Gloria mainly. It is now a much more manageable estate with 118 hectares under vines. Planted with an increasing amount of cabernet sauvignon, the average age of the vines in 35 years.
The wines are deep, round, rich, ripe. In the left bank 2009 were stunning. Plenty of sublime wines were produced in the Medoc. Many wines from Pauillac to St Estephe are so good they are close to off the charts.
