Bodega Monteviejo is owned and run by the Pere-Verge Family who also own various other Chateaux in Pomerol, these are Chateau Montviel, Chateau La Gaviere and the world famous Chateau La Violette. Monteviejo is a true expression of Argentinian character, made by the world famous winemaker Marcelo Pelleriti. The wines made at this very special property in Argentina are treated with the same commitment and care as those produced back home in Bordeaux. The vineyards, over 100 hectares, are located in the Tunuyan region, just 80km south of the city of Mendoza. Their aim is to create wines that can compete with the world's best. The yields are kept low, with vines planted at a density of 5,500 vines per hectare, to produce the best quality wine.
Full of dark earthy flavours, smooth and medium bodied, yet deeply complex. Notes of tobacco, liquorice, plum and dark cherry on the palate. Good strength in the mid palate with a lasting finish.
Goes well with steak, venison and strong game.
Old world and new world mix in this great red wine.
