The Capanna farm, owned by the Cencioni family since 1957, is situated in the Montosoli area, to the north of Montalcino. It was founded by Giuseppe Cencioni and, helped by his sons Benito and Franco, it was one of the first farms of the modern period of Brunello. The Capanna farm is still family run from both a farming and winemaking viewpoint.
Deep red ruby colour. The nose is very pleasant as it opens with a fragrance of violets and red fruit aromas such as blackberry and continue with some spicy notes nicely blended with cherry flavours and vanilla shades. The wine has good structure, very well balanced, still a bit tannic yet enveloping. Very persistent.
Pasta with meat ragout, roasted white and red meats, mushrooms, cold meats and cheeses.
A lighter, fresher style than the more powerful Brunello.
