The El Puntido Gran Reserva is a pure Tempranillo from the Puntido vineyard that is selected from the easternmost part of the vineyard near Laguardia, which is more exposed to the north wind and gives a wine of marked tannins that needs more time and is ideal to make a Gran Reserva. This wine ages 24-26 months in a barrel and is stored in the bottle for another five years. The 2006 is still dark ruby, with an open and expressive nose of leather, incense and espresso. The wine is surprisingly elegant and is medium-body in the palate with very pure flavors where the leather and fleshy notes linger in the aftertaste. This is the most classic wine of the Eguren family and is unprecedentedly beautiful. The wine assessor Luis Guiterez of the Wineadvocate closes his rave review (92/100) with "Modernity meets tradition!"
