Alión has a different philosophy than Vega Sicilia. The style is similar to that of a modern-made grand cru from Bordeaux but then from Tinto Fino: concentrated, but with a certain elegance, a dense flavor structure, anointing fruit tannins and fruit packages, fleshiness and great length. Quality is of paramount importance and we go a long way.

The Alion is a fantastic expression of top class Ribera del Duero. It has a great bouquet of black plum, violets and tobacco that float from the glass with such a delineation that the Alion is the absolute flagship (and example) for many of his colleagues in the Ribera. The taste is medium-bodied with smooth, silky world-class tannins and just a very large glass. A wine that blooms open in the glass.

KNOWLEDGE-initially it was intended to market the Alion as the 2nd wine from Vega Siclia but soon Alion had earned its own place and many are not even aware that Vega Sicilia produces this great wine. Alion has been the top in the Riber for decades and is a fraction of the price of a Vega Sicilia but certainly not a fraction in terms of quality.
