An unusual, single-variety Viura Cava made by Bodegas Artadi outside the DOCa Rioja. The elegance and complexity that the Viura wins visibly. The white wines such as those from Murrieta and Remirez de Ganuza now have a permanent place in the top segment of the white wine lover. Now people are starting to make very nice sparkling wine and because this is outside of the DO Cava this may not carry the name Cava but it is actually made of the elegant Viura.

Artadi is located in Laguardia, Elvillar and Leza at an altitude between 450 and 700 meters above sea level. The vineyards lie on a clay-calcareous soil. Artadi is one of the most famous wine producers known from, among others, his famous Pison. A shock went through wine country when Artdadi decided to leave the Rioja DO because I did not agree with the rigid and very old-fashioned regulations of the Rioja DO. Artadi wants to be more innovative with regard to grape use. We work with maximum respect for the environment, so no use of pesticides and herbicides and the vineyards are in transition to organic farming and biodynamic winemaking.

For this Brut (Reserva) there was a cold maceration for 24-48 hours followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks for 10-12 days at low temperature. Second fermentation in the bottle in February 2014. Maturation in bottle sur lie for 20 months. Made according to the Cava and Champagne method with fermentation in the bottle. The Artadi Brut has fresh aromas of apple, little green fruit, and light citrus notes. In the mouth very elegant, fresh and with a very fine perlage. A beautiful (cava) wine at a very attractive price.
