The 2015 vintage marks the special 50th anniversary of this wine. A small red sticker on the front label commemorates the five decades that have passed since grandfather Primo Pacenti made his first harvest.

This utterly elegant Canalicchio di Sopra 2015 Brunello di Montalcino reveals more with every pinch and gulp with notes of blueberry, liquorice, bay leaf, Provençal herbs and fragrant wet soil aromas as you can smell them on an autumn day. There is a touch of earthy musk which some like to call 'foxy'.

The fruit for this Brunello is a selection of clusters harvested over 10 hectares at 300 to 320 meters above sea level in two locations: Canalicchio and Montosoli. Canalicchio has clay soils for the structure of the wine and Montosoli contributes to the clarity of the aromas. The fermentation is in stainless steel and the maturation takes 36 months in Slavonian oak barrels. This wine from the warm and sunny 2015 vintage retains its distinctive crunchiness and freshness. The Canalicchio di Sopra 2015 Brunello di Montalcino is a beautifully concentrated and complex wine with supple tannins and good acidity.
