In the rural beauty of Tuscany, more than 40 kilometers south of Siena, lies a small architectural wonder: Montalcino. The name of this town is derived from the Latin "Mons Ilcinus": hill of holm oaks. Col d'Orcia literally means "hill overlooking the river Orcia". The production area that marks the southwest border of the Brunello di Montalcino region is inextricably linked to the position where the vineyards are planted. The mission of Col d'Orcia is to produce the best wines with the obtained and exceptional combination of the terroir and the climate in this area of Montalcino. Since 1973 this wine estate has been owned by the Cinzano family, a big name in the world of the beverage industry and today managed by Count Francesco Marone Cinzano. It is important to mention that Col d'Orcia makes one of the few organically certified Brunellos. So no pesticides, fertilizers or other chemicals, and that's the motto. A healthy vineyard with top grapes makes top wines and not the chemistry box.

Fermentation on the skins for approximately 18-20 days, at controlled temperature below 28 ° C and in 150 hl wide and shallow stainless steel tanks. These are specially designed and built to allow the tannins and color to excel. Aging: 4 years, of which 3 in 25-50 and 75 hl oak barrels from Slavonia and Allier, followed by at least 12 months refinement in bottles stored at controlled temperature .

Brunello has always been a great wine and a joy to drink. When young, it is rich in scents of fruit and flowers. With age, it acquires complex ethereal characteristics and provides a bouquet with an aroma of autumn leaves. In the glass, the Col d'Orcia is ruby red with violet hues. Elegant and complex aromas of red fruit such as cherries, sour cherries and spicy aromas. Balanced and structured with pleasantly ripe tannins. The aftertaste is long, fruity and durable.
