Finca Allende has its vineyards of approximately 40ha located at an altitude of 420-500 meters located on the north, northeast and northwest so under Atlantic influence in the Rioja Alta. At Allende they work with the typical Rioja grapes Tempranillo, Graciano and to a lesser extent Garnacha, Viura and Malvasia. The vineyards are owned by the winemaker Miguel and Mercedes Angel de Gregorio. Finca Allende was founded in 1995 and, together with Remirez de Ganuza, Tentenublo and Pujanza, belongs to the new style of modern winemakers. They use old vineyards that are processed in a state-of-the-art bodega into very refined beautiful wines (red and white) without an abundance of wood.

The Calvario from Finca Allende is the top model. The vineyard was planted in Briones (Rioja Alta) in 1945 on a calcareous terroir with abundant gravel and stones. It is produced on the basis of sustainable farming principles with respect for the environment and without the use of herbicides. The picking is manual with double selection (in the vineyard and then in the winery). In the bodega, gravity is used, so one starts at the top and then without the use of pumps and ends up in the oak barrels where the wine is allowed to mature in peace.

The Calavario is a Tempranillo blend with 8% Garnacha and 2% Graciano. The Allende Calvario matures in new French oak barrels for 18 months. In the nose this refined powerhouse is spicy with smoky aromas, black fruit, leather and sesame seeds. On the palate the wine is silky smooth with rustic fine-grained tannins and spicy flavors. The Calvario is always made around 6000 bottles and the wine is only made in the peak years
