One of the world's best keepers Gianluigi Buffon has launched a wine series with Fabio Cordella. Fabio Cordella is a famous Italian (wine) businessman known in the wine world for his very beautiful (high end) wines. Together with Rivera, Fabio Cordello is one of the top winemakers in the rapidly emerging region of Puglia in Italy. The Italian has a winery in the town of Copertino in the southern Italian province of Lecce and has been marketing exclusive rosé, white and red wine for years. A high-end red, white and rose wine is marketed under the Buffon label.

The Buffon Salento Primitivo Red is 100% made from the famous southern Italian grape Primitivo. The grapes were harvested in the last week of September. The harvest takes place entirely manually with a first selection in the vineyard and a two selection on the selection tables just before pressing. The wine is classically prepared with temperature-controlled fermentation, but in the state-of-the-art bodega from Fabio Cordella. The slightly crushed grapes first soak for 5-7 days and then the fermentation takes place at 24-26 ° C. The wine is then given no less than 15 months of education in (French) oak barrels.

In the glass, the wines have an intense deep ruby red color with purple hues. In the nose, the wine is powerful with an intense bouquet with plum cherries and spicy notes. On the palate, this full-bodied wine is nicely dry, powerful with attractive tannins. The Buffon Salento Primitivo Red is an excellent accompaniment to nice roasts (beef, lamb, pork) and hard cheeses. Serve at room temperature (around 18 degrees maximum) and make sure to uncork this fine wine at least 30 minutes before the start.
