The Corte del Lupo Rosso is a blend of Merlot 38%, Cabernet Sauvignon 33%, Cabernet Franc 22%, Carménère 7% coming from vineyards located in the municipality of Cazzago San Martino and Passirano. And yes, as with the Chardonnay wines, this is also an almost French (top) bordeaux. With this wine, Ca 'del Bosco wants to rediscover a traditional red grape mix from the area and restore it with a preference for Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Carménère over Cabernet Sauvignon. A journey into the past to elevate the personality and fruitiness of Merlot, the elegance of Cabernet Franc and the roundness of Carménère. Cabernet Sauvignon is there to provide the much needed backbone and to give the wine a long life. Two years are needed to create the right balance between harmony and balance in the mouth.

The grapes are picked by hand at 8 different vineyards, where they are placed in small crates on which they are stamped, just before they are kept in the fridge to be allowed to rest from the picking. "The bunches are then transported over the maceration vessel, where they are bruised, allowing the berries to fall naturally into the vessel. This eliminates the need for traditional pumping systems, breaking the skin and developing unwanted herbaceous tones. This lasted for 2016 vintage, 22 days for Merlot and Carménère, 22 days for Cabernet Franc and 20 days for Cabernet Sauvignon The wine is finally drained while it is still warm, it is placed in small oak barrels - only after malolactic fermentation - mid-winter - The "Corte del Lupo Rosso" is now being produced and will continue to mature for about 21 months, followed by bottling with gravity, so no pumps that cause undesirable oxygen. sulfites added to ensure integrity and health, and each bottle is marked with a unique code e to guarantee traceability.

House in the forest, that means Ca'del Bosco. That is exactly what the mother of current owner Maurizio Zanella was looking for more than fifty years ago to escape the bustle of Milan. In the hills to the west of Brescia were also some vineyards that young Maurizio took care of without much interest. During a study trip in Burgundy he saw the light at the famous Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. Heavily impressed, he borrowed money from the bank at home in Lombardy and started making wine at the age of 18. A fairy tale of a small hut in the forest in the 60s that grew into one of Italy's most striking wine companies. Ca'del Bosco's Franciacorta sparkling wines are now a famous international brand that can easily compete with Champagne. But his red and white wines are now also among the best.
