Beringer Estate was founded in 1876 by the Frederick brothers and Jacob Beringer. They emigrated from Germany to the United States in the 19th century and founded the now renowned winery Beringer in California.
The Beringer Vineyards are the oldest wineries in all of Napa Valley and have remained in business ever since. The Beringer winemakers also last a long time: the current, Laurie Cook, is only the seventh in the long history. It is indicative of the continuity and consistency that characterize the company. Today, Beringer's wines stand for award-winning quality. In the Top 100 of the authoritative wine magazine Wine Spectator, the house has even more entries than any other wine company anywhere in the world.
The Beringer Estate Chardonnay from the Classic range is a beautiful wood-ripened chardonnay in which the vanilla and butterscotsch are certainly present, but certainly not dominated, partly due to the beautiful acidity of the cool vineyards. The wine is golden yellow in the glass with aromas of citrus, honey and ripe stone fruit like apricot. A refreshing, full-bodied wine with luscious fruit aromas and the distinctive California sunshine.
