Château de Beaucastel is set in a magical setting dotted with vineyards, age-old olive trees and truffle oaks. Beaucastel, that is the most famous wine of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Here you will find nature in its purest form and its strength will come to rest. The typical rolled boulders are the secret of its vineyards in which gnarled vines grow in traditional 'gobelet' form. On this age-old soil we find the 13 grape varieties that are allowed in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. All these 13 grape varieties form the basis of the mythical blends of Château de Beaucastel, where they are grown biodynamically. This makes them one of the last to use the richness and complexity that this blend offers.

The history of Beaucastel starts in the early 17th century. The Perrins appeared in the beginning of the 20th century. We are now five generations further and there is a global company in the field of quality wines . From very affordable to the absolute top. Everything about the vision, technology and vineyard processing that Beaucastel has given to the coveted, global top position applies to the vineyards and wines with other designations of origin, such as Ventoux, Luberon, Cotes du Rhone, Gigondas, Vinsobres, Rasteau and Vacqueyras. While maintaining its own character; the differences between the wines are great and prove the respectful working method

The wines of Coudoulet can rise to unprecedented heights in large years and are more often preferred over the much more expensive Beaucastels. Certainly at an earlier stage awaiting the development of the Beaucastel wines, which usually retreat extensively and later in a convincing way. Here we touch the heart of the matter. The material with the greatest long-term potential and the most finesse is assigned to Beaucastel. We can experience with Coudoulet that the pleasure at an early stage is irresistibly expressed in the young wine.

The red Coudoulet is a blend of Grenache 30%, Mourvèdre 30%, Syrah 20%, Cinsault 20%. The grapes are picked by hand and selection takes place in the vineyard and on the selection tables. The final grapes are first briefly heated to 30 degrees and then cooled again to 20 degrees. In this biological way any unwanted yeasts are biologically removed. The different grapes are individually vinified and then blended and the blend stays in large oak barrels for 6-8 months. The 2013 Coudoulet de Beaucastel Côtes du Rhône offers a surprisingly ripe, rounded style with notes of strawberries, raspberries and peppery herbs. The wine is clear and lively. On the palate, this is medium-bodied wine and is very pleasantly creamy on the palate and hits of thyme. A nice finish with soft tannins.
