Say Perrin and you think of the magical castle Château de Beaucastel and the imaginative Châteauneuf-du-Pape that is highly sought after worldwide. Beaucastel has been around since the early 17th century, but it was not until 1909, when the Perrin family took ownership, that the then 100-hectare domain underwent a complete metamorphosis. More than a hundred years later, and already the fifth generation, the Perrin empire has grown into 325 hectares of vineyard, the vast majority of which are in own ownership. After the success in Châteauneuf, the family started to buy other plots in the southern Rhône. Today they are active in the Côtes du Rhône Villages, Vinsobres, Cairanne, Rasteau, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, even Beaumes-de-Venise and Tavel and for several months in Côtes de Provence with Château Miraval, the jont venture between Perrin and Jolie -Pitt (Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie). Each and every one of them excellently located plots that are located at a maximum of 45 minutes from the home port of Orange and can thus be inspected daily. The success that the family has today is largely due to the late Jacques Perrin, of the third generation, a true 'biodynamist' avant la lettre. His philosophy? You make good wine by letting the grape run its course in the best possible natural conditions. And so it happened, because as early as 1964 all chemical fertilizers and herbicides were banned from the vineyard. Nothing is left to chance in the basement. The Perrins built an ultra-modern vinification cellar on the nearby La Vieille Ferme estate, equipped with all the technical features. But the family will mainly go down in the history books as the master of the blenders. It is undeniably the great secret of the Perrins, who are convinced that blending the right grapes in the right quantities makes for better wines. Something that is still done by the family every year. Over the five generations, the Perrin family has acquired several vineyards with the best terroirs in the Southern Rhone Valley. These vineyards are managed and vinified according to the same principles and belief as Château de Beaucastel. Within the 'Famille Perrin' range, you will discover the richness of the southern Rhone Valley through various renowned appellations such as Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Vinsobres, Cairanne and Rasteau. Here too, the authenticity and essence of the terroir are central to all wines.

The land of Vinosobres is located 40 km north of Chateauneuf du Pape at an altitude of 300 meters. This soil is perfect for Syrah grapes and it gives the grapes a finesse that you cannot find in any other location. The Les Cornuds is a blend of Grenache and Syrah from the northernmost village of the Southern Rhone Valley. For this wine, the vinification process is separate, the Grenache goes in steel tanks while the Syrah goes on old oak barrels. The grapes are only blended after the malolactic fermentation is finished, after which the wine is placed in oak barrels for 6 months before it becomes available. In the glass, this Perrin has a deep dark ruby red color. In the nose aromas of small red-black fruit, liquorice and garrigue (dried Provencal herbs). In the taste palette notes of ripe black currant and black olives, followed by a good finish with ripe soft tannins.
