This Grüner Veltliner comes from the Steinleithn vineyard, an eastern-oriented site with a lean soil. Just like the ground on the Kirchensteig, there is only a thin layer that covers the rock. Skeletal terroir developed from crystalline granulite. Granulite is metamorphic - or converted - rock that is light and sometimes appears violet - streaked from the dark mica (biotite). The grapes for this wine were harvested manually at the end of October and placed in small boxes. Then: pressing the whole bunches, very strong natural pre-filtration and a slow fermentation in steel tanks, extended aging period on the lees until August, and finally bottled in August.

The Austrian quality winery Geyerhof always chooses to release the wines later, partly because their natural fermentation often proceeds slowly and the wines therefore do not present as well the year after the harvest. This beautiful, organic wine has everything you would expect from a beautiful Grüner Veltliner: fine peppery spice (meadow herbs), yellow apple, fresh orange peel, mineral, complex, juicy and harmonious fruits with an elegant complex acidity, a long finish and an excellent finish maturing potential. According to Robert Parker, the aromas "perfectly represent the cool and skeletal terroir of this east-facing cru. Full, round, lush and spicy, this is a generous, intense but elegant and fresh Grüner Veltliner that is not completely dry but voluptuous and sexy is. "

The wine comes from the Kremstal in Niederösterreich, Austria's most important wine region. The Kremstal area is located on both sides of the Danube, around the city of Krems. This wine is made by the Geyerhof high-quality winery whose vineyards lie on the south side of the Danube below the famous Göttweig monastery. Wine is the focus of daily life on Geyerhof. Joy and respect for life determine the actions and method.

The winery was first mentioned in the municipality archives in the 12th century and has been in the family's hands since the 16th century. Ilse and Josef Maier have passionately cultivated 23 hectares of vineyards here since 1988. Maria & Josef, the following generations, have joined the family business since 2015. Mase and her son make organic wines that are juicy and friendly at Geyerhof in Kremstal. The Grüner Veltliner grape variety covers around 70% of the Geyerhof vineyards. Special emphasis is placed on the authentic expression of individual vineyards in single-vineyard wines. For an overview of the different vineyards of Geyerhof click here .

This wine is recommended as an aperitif and also combines well with fresh dishes with fish or poultry. Can also go well with pork and vegetarian dishes.
