Delicious red quality wine from the beautiful winery Velenosi from the Marche . This Roggio Del Filare is made from 70% Montepulciano and 30% Sangiovese grapes. Brilliant, shiny ruby red in color with light garnet hues, the wine is intense and complex on the nose due to the penetrating scents of dark, ripe fruits such as plums and blackberries, mixed with an extraordinary and fascinating bouquet of spices. On the palate, this wine confirms its great character and reveals its essence through a pulpy mouthfeel, velvety and with just the right touch of tannin, fruit and spice. The warm, lingering, full-bodied and well-orchestrated taste makes it a distinctive and charismatic wine.
Every year the Magazine GENTLEMAN publishes the list of 100 best red Italian wines. This magazine collects the results of the 6 most important Wine Guides (Gamberro Rosso, etc) and then makes an overall ranking of this and this includes the Offida Rosso Ludi and Rosso Piceno Doc Superiore Roggio del Filare in place 22 and 27 respectively. It is also worth mentioning that the Roggio del Filare has achieved the maximum score for 13 years in a row in the Gambero Rosso with 3 glasses.
- 97/100 points Luca Maroni
- Gambero Rosso: 3/3- Trebicchieri Gambero Rosso
- Bibenda: 5/5 ('16)
- Doctor Wine: 96/100
The grapes for this wine come from the vineyards of winery Velenosi. These vineyards are located in the municipalities of Offida and Ascoli Piceno and have mainly limestone-inclined clay soils. The average altitude of the vineyards is 200 meters above sea level. The grapes are harvested in mid-October, early morning or late afternoon, then placed in small trays and kept in cold cells before being taken to the winery.
After decanting, the grapes are placed in 100 hectolitre steel fermenters, equipped with a programmable pump-over system (to obtain the best results for color extraction and softness of the wine) and a temperature control system. Maceration on the skin takes about 28 days. After fermentation, the wine ages in new French barriques for about 18 months.
This beautiful wine is highly recommended to serve with a dinner with fine beef, veal and poultry. Also delicious with more luxurious pasta dishes.
