Caroline Morey is the eldest daughter of the famous Jean-Marc Morey. In 2014, after her father's retirement, she took over some of the family's vineyards to start her own domain. Today she shares a winery in Chassagne-Montrachet with her husband, Pierre-Yves Colin, where they make elite red and white Burgundies that are at the top of what's possible in the legendary region. The Morey family has been in Chassagne since the mid-16th century and it was Albert Morey who first started bottling domains in 1950. His esteemed heritage vineyards throughout Chassagne and Santenay passed to his son Jean-Marc and now Caroline. She shares a similar approach to wine with her husband, using indigenous yeasts, fermenting and maturing the wines in 350 liter barrels, and forgoing battonage. In just a few vintages, Caroline has conquered the world with wines of precision, purity, mineral intensity and an extraordinary clarity of terroir.

Le Montrachet is the name of a grand cru vineyard with an area of 8.00 hectares (of which 4.01 hectares in the village of Puligny-Montrachet and 3.99 hectares in Chassagne-Montrachet in the Côte de Beaune (Burgundy)). The average yield is 393 hectoliters (52,272 bottles) per year of the most expensive dry white wines in the world, made from the Chardonnay. The wine requires at least 10 years of aging to show its exceptional qualities.

The soil consists mainly of clay and limestone with the famous stones of Chassagne and has clear minerality. The vineyards have a special aspect: they are made up of small blocks and are intertwined. With its east orientation, on the road to Saint Aubin, this plot benefits from the fresh air. This makes the wine pure and refreshing.

The grapes come from our own vineyards and are picked entirely by hand and selected very strictly. The wine is made in a very natural way, is not crossed, but filtered very lightly. Bâtonnage during vinification is not an issue. No manipulation of the wine is the motto. The wine is aged for 14-18 months in used oak barrels of about 2-3 years old. The barrels are not toasted, but burned to a minimum to protect the wood.

The Caroline Morey Chassagne-Montrachet Chambrées comes from 3 plots with vines planted in the 60s and early 90s in Le Chene, Les Masures and La Bergerie - an average of 40 years old in total. All plots are vinified separately and only when the wine has to be bottled, Carline and Pierre Yves start composing the blend. The Chassagne Montrachet Chambrées is light straw yellow in glass, super fresh green and citrus fruit, sharply impressive, mineral. In the mouth intense with a long, slightly salty finish. Also give this wine some air in its younger years.
