The Minuty Rouge et Or is an absolute Provence red wine, such as a Bandol. The wine is a blend of Mourvèdre & Grenache coming from a vineyard located on the coast on the slopes of the villages of Gassin and Ramatuelle, overlooking the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. They are naturally cultivated using sustainable farming methods. The harvest is entirely by hand with an almost bizarre perfection. Only the best quality grapes are allowed in this version and therefore the first selection is already made in the vineyards, after which the grapes are checked piece by piece in the winery and only the very best grapes are allowed in this scarce red Minuty.
After de-fermentation, they are lightly bruised and cold macerated before a 5-day fermentation to obtain the finest tannins. After fermentation, the wine matures for a year in oak barrels and is then bottled for about 6 months before the red Minuty van Estate series is released.
In the glass, the wine has a deep, opaque red color with purple hues. In the nose the wine is complex and needs some time to release but then the wine is full, spicy with thunder fruits such as blackcurrant and blackberries but also the typical Provencal herbs and a little leather with cedar wood. On the palate the wine is full bodied, full of fruit, creamy and silky with well matured tannins. A great wine by the way with leg of lamb with garlic, prime rib and duck breast with figs.
