The Fuligni family lived in the Tuscan Maremma at the beginning of the 20th century. To escape the malaria, the family moved to Montalcino and in 1923 bought the Cottimelli estate from Gontrano Biondi Santi, named after the 16th-century monastery that stood there. This is the classic zone where Brunello had always been made. Fuligni also bought an 18th-century palazzo in the center of Montalcino with beautiful vaulted cellars where wines are still aged today. The vines, which extend over ten hectares, are mainly in Cottimelli at altitudes ranging from 380 to 450 meters above sea level. Here the land, which is mainly oriented to the east, belongs entirely to the geological formation of Santa Fiora (marl) of Eocene origin and consists of mainly rocky terrain.

The Brunello di Montalcino from Eredi Fuligni has already received the magic score of 100/100 from James Suckling and is at number 8 in the Top-100 best wines 2019. Also at Parker, Fuligni is on the shortlist of the best wine estates in Montalcino.

The SJ (SAN JACOPO) Rosso Tuscany is a beautiful Rosso but in a different way because SJ comes from a blend of Sangiovese grapes from our own vines and from Merlot (often around 40%) from the Bandita vineyard which has 6-9 months aged in French oak tonneaux. because of the amount of Merlot this is an IGT and we could call this a Supertuscan.

Juicy, rich and expressive, the Rosso Tuscany SJ pops out of your glass with black cherry, tobacco, new leather and licorice notes. The addition of Merlot gives the wine its richness and generosity in the middle of the palate and softens the wine just a bit while preserving the superb quality and freshness of the Sangiovese grape. A beautiful glass from one of the best houses in Tuscany.
